SCORPIONS HISTORY

Founded in the Valley of the Sun in 1998, the Phoenix Scorpions Field Hockey Club has kept the sport of Field Hockey alive and well in Phoenix.  Our membership consists of Men and Women from all over the world and of all ages who possess skills ranging from national team players to beginners.  

As a non-profit, community based organization, our primary goal is to promote and foster the growth of Field Hockey for both young and adult players in Phoenix and Arizona.  We have numerous Junior Development programs and participate in many tournaments throughout the US and Canada.

The club consists of more than 60 active club members/players including 20 strong Under-18 members. The club sponsors the Scorpions kids travel and hosts community events quarterly. The youngest Scorpion member on the field is 4 years old.

Scorpions' members/players comprise of ex-olympians and several International cap players. The club hosts training camps for the young Scoprions and invites National & international coaches and players.

2006 achievements:

  • The caliber and group of young players as well as the support network in the Phoenix area helped the United States Field Hockey Association (USFHA) naming Phoenix as the new "High Performance Center"
  • 2 Young Scorpions ( Sonu Chana and Manraj Khosla) selected for US National U-21 Squad
  • Fall League started to select and nurture young emerging telent
  • 7 Junior Scorpions make the Southern California/Arizona Regional Team selection.
  • Phoenix Scorpions win DOUBLE GOLD- Scorpions Under-15's as well as Adults win the Gold in the California "SIXES" Tournament in Moorpark, CA.
  • BRONZE for the Under-16 Division at California Cup
  • Hosted 2nd Annual Cactus Classic Tournament in January
  • Clinched GOLD in the Men's Division at San Diego Field Hockey West Regional Tournament

    Our junior members have participated in the US Nationals try outs and have won several medals over the years!
